A proposed trial design; outcome data in non-diabetic people are not yet available.

- The question
- Why do researchers want to test metformin as an aging drug?
- Study design
- Perspective paper (2016) laying out the rationale and design of TAME (Targeting Aging with Metformin). [1]
- What they found
- The authors argue that a trial using a composite of age-related diseases as its endpoint could establish aging itself as a target for drug development, using metformin as the first test case. [1]
- Limitations
- A proposal, not results. Metformin is a prescription drug.
- What this does not mean
- There is no proof yet that metformin slows aging in people without diabetes.
